Resumé
Biography
James L. Fosshage Ph.D., is in the private practice of
psychoanalysis and psychotherapy (individual, couples and group) in New
York City and Tenafly, New Jersey. He is a Co-founder, Board Director
and Faculty Member of the National Institute for the Psychotherapies
(NYC), Founding Faculty Member of the Institute for the Psychoanalytic
Study of Subjectivity (NYC), and Clinical Professor of Psychology at New
York University Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis
(where he was a co-founder of the Relational Track).
Dr. Fosshage is the Past President of the International Association for
Psychoanalytic Self Psychology (2004-2007). He is the Past President
of the Association for Autonomous Psychoanalytic Institutes (AAPI).
He is a Consulting Editor of Psychoanalytic Inquiry and on the
Editorial Boards of International Journal of Psychoanalytic Self
Psychology, Psychoanalytic Dialogues, Psychoanalysis and
Psychotherapy, Psychoanalytic Perspectives,
Psicoterapia, Ricerca Psicoananlitica, and Israel
Annual of Psychoanalytic Theory, Research and Practice.
Author of over 70 psychoanalytic publications, his books include
Dream Interpretation: A Comparative Study, Revised Edition,
co-authored with Clemens Loew, and Self and Motivational Systems:
Toward a Theory of Technique, The Clinical Exchange: Technique
from the Standpoint of Self and Motivational Systems and Spirit
of Inquiry: Communication in Psychoanalysis, all co-authored with
Joseph Lichtenberg and Frank Lachmann.
Dr. Fosshage has lectured extensively nationally and internationally
and is an Advisory Board Member and/or on the faculty and supervisory
analyst of 5 other psychoanalytic institutes across the U.S., Canada,
and Europe.
